Course: Baking

Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 100 ml warm milk
  • 100 ml warm water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 8 g dry yeast
  • 2 large eggs
  • 500 g (3 cups) wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 20 ml vegetable oil

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix the warm milk, warm water, sugar, and dry yeast. Stir well until the yeast and sugar dissolve. Let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture, eggs, and vegetable oil.
  3. Mix the ingredients together with a spoon or your hands until a dough starts to form. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, or until it is smooth and elastic. If the dough feels too sticky, add a little more flour, 1 tablespoon at a time, until you reach the desired consistency.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30-40 minutes or until it has doubled in size.
  5. After the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Divide the dough into equal portions and shape them into balls or your desired shape. Arrange the shaped dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Cover the shaped dough with a cloth and let it rise again for another 10-15 minutes.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and 1 tablespoon of milk to make an egg wash. Brush the top of each piece of dough with the egg wash.
  8. Melt the plum oil or butter and drizzle it lightly over the dough. Sprinkle sesame seeds generously on top for decoration.
  9. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the bread in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  10. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool slightly on a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature, and enjoy the delightful taste and texture of this freshly baked bread!
