Ingredients
  • A pinch of cinnamon – This warming spice adds a sweet and slightly spicy flavor that complements the natural sweetness of the dates.
  • A pinch of cardamom – Known for its fragrant aroma and unique flavor, cardamom adds depth and a hint of citrusy spice to the dessert.
  • 30 g peanuts – Peanuts provide a rich source of protein and healthy fats, contributing to the energy-boosting qualities of this snack.
  • 20 g almonds – Almonds are packed with vitamin E, magnesium, and fiber, adding both nutrition and a satisfying crunch.
  • 15 g pistachios – Pistachios not only add a beautiful green hue but also bring a subtle sweetness and heart-healthy fats.
  • 15 g hazelnuts – Hazelnuts offer a rich, buttery flavor that pairs well with the other nuts and adds to the overall creaminess of the mixture.
  • 250 g dates – Dates are naturally sweet and act as the perfect binder for the ingredients, holding everything together while adding a caramel-like flavor.
  • 30 g sesame seeds – Sesame seeds add a nutty flavor and a slight crunch, perfect for coating the energy balls.

Method

Preparation
  1. Pit the dates: If your dates are not pitted, remove the seeds before using.
  2. Toast the nuts: Lightly toast the peanuts, almonds, pistachios, and hazelnuts in a dry pan over medium heat for a few minutes to enhance their flavor. Be careful not to burn them.
  3. Combine in a food processor: Add the toasted nuts and pitted dates to a food processor. Pulse until the mixture becomes sticky and starts to clump together. If the mixture is too dry, add a few more dates.
  4. Add spices: Sprinkle in the cinnamon and cardamom. Pulse again until the spices are fully incorporated.
  5. Form into balls: Using your hands, take small portions of the mixture and roll them into bite-sized balls.
  6. Coat with sesame seeds: Roll each ball in sesame seeds to coat them evenly. This adds extra texture and flavor.
  7. Ready to eat: These energy balls are ready to be enjoyed immediately. You can serve them as a snack, dessert, or even a quick breakfast.
