Recipe card for Fluffy and Soft Cream Cheese Garlic Bread Recipe.
Course: Baking

Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 300g Bread flour - The key to a fluffy and tender crumb, bread flour has a higher protein content, which helps the dough rise beautifully.
  • 140ml Warm milk - Activates the yeast and adds richness to the dough.
  • 6g (1 Tbsp) Instant dry yeast - Leavens the dough, making it soft and airy.
  • 15g (1.5 Tbsp) Sugar - Feeds the yeast and adds a slight sweetness to the dough.
  • 58g (1) Room temperature egg - Helps bind the ingredients and adds moisture, contributing to the bread’s softness.
  • 5g (1.5 tsp) Salt - Enhances the flavor and balances the sweetness.
  • 20g (1 Tbsp) Room temperature unsalted butter - Adds richness and helps create a tender crumb.
  • 40g (2 Tbsp) Room temperature cream cheese - Adds a subtle tang and creaminess to the dough.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Sprinkle the instant dry yeast over the milk mixture, letting it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  3. Add the room temperature egg, salt, and cream cheese to the yeast mixture. Stir until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the bread flour, mixing until a rough dough forms.
  5. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  6. Add the unsalted butter and continue kneading until the butter is fully incorporated and the dough is soft and slightly tacky.
  7. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  8. While the dough is rising, prepare the garlic sauce. In a small bowl, mix together the room temperature butter, ground garlic, honey (or sugar), and parsley until well combined.
  9. Set the sauce aside at room temperature so it remains spreadable.
  10. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air.
  11. Divide the dough into equal portions, shaping each into a ball or a long roll, depending on your preference.
  12. Place the dough portions on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving enough space between each for expansion.
  13. Cover the dough again and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  14. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  15. Gently brush each dough portion with the egg wash, ensuring even coverage.
  16. Spread a generous amount of the garlic sauce on top of each piece of dough.
  17. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the garlic sauce, making sure to cover the surface.
  18. Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  19. If the cheese starts to brown too quickly, you can tent the bread with aluminum foil to prevent burning.
  20. Once the bread is out of the oven, immediately brush it with the melted butter to add a beautiful shine and extra richness.
  21. Sprinkle with additional parsley for a fresh, vibrant touch.
  22. Let the bread cool slightly before serving to allow the flavors to meld and the cheese to set.
