Apple Puff Pastry Delight

Recipe card for Apple Puff Pastry Delight.
Course: Baking

Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 300g puff pastry – Store-bought or homemade
  • Apple jam – As needed
  • 2 apples – Thinly sliced
  • 1/2 tbsp lime juice – To prevent apples from browning
  • 1 tbsp sugar – For sprinkling on apples
  • Powdered sugar – For dusting

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples.
  3. In a bowl, toss the apple slices with 1/2 tablespoon of lime juice to keep them from browning. Set aside.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  5. Cut the puff pastry into rectangles or desired shapes. You can also create borders by slightly folding the edges inward.
  6. Place the pastry rectangles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Spread a thin layer of apple jam on each puff pastry rectangle, leaving a small border around the edges.
  8. Arrange the apple slices on top of the jam, slightly overlapping them.
  9. Sprinkle the apples with 1 tablespoon of sugar to add a bit of sweetness and enhance caramelization.
  10. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven.
  11. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden and the apples are tender. The pastry should rise and become flaky, and the apples should start to caramelize.
  12. Once baked, remove the pastries from the oven and let them cool slightly.
  13. Dust with powdered sugar before serving for an elegant finishing touch.
