Course: Baking

Ingredients

Ingredients
  • Apples: 2, peeled and diced
  • Sugar: 2 tablespoons for apples
  • Cinnamon: A pinch
  • Butter: 1 tablespoon
  • Honey: 1 tablespoon
  • Egg: 1
  • Salt: A pinch
  • Vanilla Sugar: 8 grams
  • Sugar: 60 grams for batter
  • Cornstarch: 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable Oil: 50 ml
  • Yogurt: 2 tablespoons
  • Baking Powder: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Flour: 250 grams about 2 cups
  • Soft Sugar: For sprinkling

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare the Apple Filling: In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the diced apples, 2 tablespoons of sugar, cinnamon, and honey. Cook for about 5 minutes until the apples soften and become fragrant. Set aside and let the filling cool.
  2. Prepare the Dough: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg, a pinch of salt, vanilla sugar, and 60 grams of sugar until smooth. Add the cornstarch, oil, and yogurt, mixing well to combine.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually sift in the flour and baking powder. Mix until a soft dough forms, but be careful not to overwork it.
  4. Assemble the Pastries: Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface until it's about 1/4 inch thick. Cut the dough into squares or circles. Place a spoonful of the apple filling in the center of each piece. Fold the edges over to seal the filling inside.
  5. Bake: Preheat your oven to 180°C (360°F). Place the pastries on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Serve: Let the pastries cool slightly before dusting with soft sugar. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature.
