Recipe card for Turkish-Style Potato and Ground Beef Recipe.
Servings: 4-6 servings
Course: Main Course

Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 800 grams of potatoes
  • 800 ml of water
  • 500 grams of ground beef
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 onion
  • Mayonnaise, for serving

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Peel the potatoes and cut them into evenly sized cubes or slices, according to your preference. This ensures they cook uniformly.
  2. Cook the Potatoes: In a large pot, bring 800 ml of water to a boil. Carefully add the potatoes and let them cook until they are tender but still hold their shape, about 10-15 minutes. Avoid overcooking to prevent them from becoming mushy.
  3. Once cooked, drain the potatoes and set them aside.
  4. Cook the Ground Beef: While the potatoes are boiling, finely chop the onion.
  5. Heat a bit of oil in a separate pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent and lightly golden.
  6. Add the ground beef to the pan with the onions. Season with salt and pepper. Cook the beef until it's fully browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks to ensure even cooking.
  7. Combine and Cook Further: Once the beef is cooked and no pink remains, add the drained potatoes to the pan. Gently stir the mixture to combine, allowing the flavors to meld.
  8. Let the mixture cook together for a few more minutes on medium heat to enhance the flavors and ensure everything is heated through.
  9. Season and Serve: Taste the mixture and adjust the seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed.
  10. Serve the dish hot, with a generous dollop of mayonnaise on top of each serving for a creamy texture and added flavor.
  11. Garnish: Optionally, you can garnish with chopped fresh herbs like parsley or dill to add a burst of color and freshness to the dish.
