Stuffed Bread with Mozzarella and Salami

Recipe card for Stuffed Bread with Mozzarella and Salami.
Course: Baking

Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 4 eggs
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2–3 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 loaf of bread preferably day-old
  • 5 cherry tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup or sauce of choice
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 100 g salami, sliced
  • 60 ml milk
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 40 g Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 bunch spring onions, chopped

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare the bread: Start by preheating your oven to 180°C (356°F). Take your loaf of bread and carefully cut out the center, leaving about an inch around the sides to form a hollow “bread bowl.” Make sure to keep the removed bread pieces — you’ll use them later.
  2. Make the egg mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, sour cream, milk, salt, and pepper until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Prepare the filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped tomatoes, sliced salami, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and chopped spring onions. Add a spoonful of ketchup or your favorite sauce for flavor.
  4. Combine the mixtures: Pour the egg mixture over the filling ingredients and mix everything until evenly coated.
  5. Stuff the bread: Spoon the mixture into the hollowed bread loaf, making sure the filling spreads evenly inside. You can also use the removed bread pieces to make smaller stuffed portions if desired.
  6. Bake: Place the stuffed bread on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the top is golden and slightly crispy.
  7. Serve: Once baked, let the bread rest for about 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm, and enjoy that irresistible mix of gooey cheese, crisp crust, and savory salami.
