Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 400 F (200 C) and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Brown the ground beef in a small skillet over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat, season with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, and let the meat cool slightly.
- Roll out the first sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Spread the cooked beef, cheddar, and parmesan over the pastry, leaving a small margin at the edges.
- Place the second sheet of puff pastry on top and press gently to seal the filling between the layers.
- Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice the pastry into long strips about 1 inch wide.
- Twist each strip 3 to 4 times to make a spiral, then place it on the prepared baking sheet.
- Whisk the egg with a tablespoon of water, brush the tops of the twists, and sprinkle with fresh chives.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and deep golden brown.
Notes
Let the cooked beef cool slightly before filling the pastry. Serve warm, or store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat until crisp.
