Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour 160 g
  • 1 tsp yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 fl oz warm water 90 ml

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 tsp yeast, 1 tsp sugar, and 1/4 tsp salt. These ingredients form the base of your pizza dough and ensure it rises properly.
  2. Add 1 tbsp olive oil and 3 fl oz (90 ml) of warm water to the dry ingredients. Stir until the mixture comes together, then knead for 2-3 minutes until the dough is soft but not sticky. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour.
  3. Grease a bowl with a small amount of oil, place the dough in the bowl, and cover it with a clean cloth or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place for 40-60 minutes or until it has doubled in size. This step is crucial for achieving a light and airy crust.
  4. Make the Tomato Sauce: To prepare the sauce, blanch 14 oz of tomatoes in boiling water for about 3 minutes. This will make it easier to peel off the skins. Once cooled, peel and chop the tomatoes.
  5. Blend the peeled tomatoes with 1 garlic clove, 4-5 basil leaves, 1 tbsp oregano, 2 tbsp olive oil, black pepper to taste, 1/4 tsp salt, 1 tsp sugar, and 1 tbsp tomato paste until smooth.
  6. Cook the blended mixture over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens. This will concentrate the flavors and give you a rich tomato sauce.
  7. Assemble the Pizza: Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). This ensures your pizza will cook evenly and develop a crispy crust.
  8. Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface into a 12-inch (30 cm) circle. Create a small crust edge by folding the edges slightly. To prevent bubbling, poke holes in the dough with a fork.
  9. Spread a thin layer of the prepared tomato sauce over the dough, leaving the crust edge clean. Sprinkle half of the 7 oz (200 g) mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  10. Add your desired toppings: sweet corn, sliced onions, and pepperoni sausage slices. Finish with the remaining mozzarella cheese for a gooey, melted topping.
  11. Bake the Pizza: Place the assembled pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Keep an eye on the pizza towards the end of baking to avoid over-browning.
  12. Serve and Enjoy: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. This helps the cheese set slightly and makes for easier cutting. Serve hot with your favorite sides or enjoy it as is!
