Ham and Cream Cheese Pinwheels

Recipe card for Ham and Cream Cheese Pinwheels.
Course: Main Course

Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 large thin flatbread lavash, tortilla, or pita bread
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 ounces thinly sliced ham
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • Wooden skewers optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Spread the softened cream cheese evenly over the flatbread. Make sure to cover the entire surface for even flavor distribution.
  2. Layer the thinly sliced ham over the cream cheese, ensuring it covers the cheese completely.
  3. Starting from one long side, tightly roll the flatbread into a log. The tighter the roll, the better the pinwheels will hold their shape.
  4. Wrap the log in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up. This makes slicing easier and helps maintain the shape.
  5. Unwrap the log and cut it into 1-inch thick slices. Use a sharp knife to get clean cuts.
  6. In separate dishes, whisk the eggs in one and place the breadcrumbs in another.
  7. Dip each pinwheel slice in the egg mixture, ensuring it's fully coated.
  8. Roll the pinwheels in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere the crumbs evenly.
  9. Insert a wooden skewer through the center of each pinwheel for easier handling and a fun presentation.
  10. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  11. Place the pinwheels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  12. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
