Preparation
- Prepare the Baking DishGrease a medium-sized baking dish with butter and lightly dust it with breadcrumbs. This prevents sticking and adds a subtle crunch to the crust.
- Soak the SemolinaIn a small bowl, combine semolina and milk. Let it soak for about 15 minutes until it swells and softens. This ensures the casserole has a tender texture.
- Mix the Quark BaseIn a large bowl, whisk together the quark cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, lemon zest, and a pinch of salt. Stir until smooth and creamy.
- Add the Eggs and SemolinaBeat the eggs and fold them into the quark mixture. Add the soaked semolina with baking powder and mix until well incorporated. The batter should be thick but pourable.
- Assemble the CasserolePour half of the quark mixture into the prepared baking dish. Arrange a layer of tangerine segments over it, then cover with the remaining mixture. Place a few tangerine slices on top for decoration.
- Bake the CasserolePreheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the casserole for 35–40 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the middle.
- Cool and ServeLet the casserole rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm or chilled.
