Fluffy Bread Made with Condensed Milk: Soft as Clouds!

  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp (60g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp (3g) yeast
  • 0.6 cup (140ml) warm milk
  • 2 cups (300g) bread flour or wheat flour
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 2 tbsp (28g) unsalted butter
  • Egg wash 1 egg beaten with a little water
  • Unsalted butter for brushing

Method

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the yeast with the warm milk and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until frothy.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg with the sweetened condensed milk until well combined.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Add the yeast mixture to the egg mixture and stir well.
  4. Form the Dough: Gradually add the bread flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
  5. Knead the Dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  6. Add the unsalted butter and continue kneading until the butter is fully incorporated and the dough is smooth and shiny.
  7. Let the Dough Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  8. Shape and Second Rise: Punch down the dough and divide it into equal parts.
  9. Shape each part into a ball and place them in a greased 20x20cm (8’’x8’’) mold.
  10. Cover the mold with a damp cloth and let it rise again for about 30 minutes, or until the dough has doubled in size.
  11. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 170°C (340°F).
  12. Brush with Egg Wash: Brush the top of the dough with egg wash.
  13. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
