Preparation
- Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir well and let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- Add the flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let the Dough Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
- Shape the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten it into a disc about 18cm in diameter.
- Cook the Flatbread: Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat and lightly coat it with cooking oil.
- Place a dough disc in the pan and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and puffed up.
- Repeat with the remaining dough pieces.
- Optional Topping: Brush the cooked flatbreads with melted unsalted butter or olive oil.
- Sprinkle with crushed pepper and chopped parsley for added flavor.
