Peda Mixture
  • 2 cups Milk Powder can be substituted with coconut milk powder for a dairy-free version
  • 1 cup Caster/Powdered Sugar use granulated sugar if unavailable
  • 1 cup Desiccated Coconut unsweetened is preferred for an authentic taste
  • 4 tablespoons Ghee can be substituted with unsalted butter or coconut oil for vegan option
  • 1 cup Full Fat Milk consider using heavy cream for a richer experience
  • 1 teaspoon Cardamom Powder freshly ground enhances the taste
Garnishing
  • 1 pinch Saffron soaked in warm water
  • 2 tablespoons Pistachio Slivers can be replaced with almonds or skipped for nut-free version

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a heavy-bottom pan, melt the ghee over low heat.
  2. Stir in the milk powder, powdered sugar, and desiccated coconut until well blended.
  3. Gradually pour in the full-fat milk while stirring continuously until the mixture thickens.
  4. Once thickened, transfer the mixture to a bowl and let it cool slightly.
  5. Knead in the cardamom powder until smooth and well incorporated.
  6. Roll the mixture into small balls and then press slightly to form discs.
  7. Drizzle saffron water over the pedas and sprinkle with pistachio slivers before serving.
