Course: Dessert

Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 4 eggs
  • 100g (about 1/2 cup) sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • Vanillin to taste
  • 40g (about 3 tablespoons) melted butter
  • 200ml (about 3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons) milk
  • 200g (about 1 2/3 cups) flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 5 large apples or 7 medium apples
  • 20g (about 1 1/2 tablespoons) melted butter for topping
  • Powdered sugar optional, for sprinkling

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F).
  2. Prepare the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, beat together the eggs, sugar, salt, and vanillin until well combined.
  3. Add the melted butter and milk to the egg mixture, mixing thoroughly.
  4. Sift in the flour and baking powder, and mix until you have a smooth batter.
  5. Prepare the Apples: Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. Thin slices ensure even baking and a tender texture.
  6. Combine Apples and Batter: Gently fold the apple slices into the batter, ensuring each slice is well-coated.
  7. Prepare the Baking Dish: Grease a 24 cm (9.5-inch) baking dish. Pour the apple batter mixture into the dish, spreading it evenly.
  8. Drizzle the melted butter over the top.
  9. Bake the Cake: Bake the cake in the oven for 60 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool completely before slicing. Optionally, sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
