Preparation
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line an 8-inch round cake pan or a loaf pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and creamy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Ensure the eggs are fully incorporated before adding the next.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the plain flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
- Mix the Batter: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the cake dense.
- Fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the cake is golden brown.
- Cool the Cake: Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust and Serve: Once the cake is completely cool, dust with icing sugar. For extra flavor, you can mix a bit of cinnamon with the icing sugar before dusting.
