Apple Cake

Recipe card for Apple Cake.
Course: Dessert

Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 2 eggs (room temperature): Provides structure and richness to the cake. Room temperature eggs mix more evenly with other ingredients.
  • 100 grams (1/2 cup or 3.5 oz) sugar: Sweetens the cake and contributes to its texture.
  • 100 grams (3.5 oz) butter (softened): Adds moisture and richness. Ensure the butter is softened for easier mixing.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line an 8-inch round cake pan or a loaf pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and creamy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Ensure the eggs are fully incorporated before adding the next.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the plain flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Mix the Batter: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the cake dense.
  6. Fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  7. Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the cake is golden brown.
  9. Cool the Cake: Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Dust and Serve: Once the cake is completely cool, dust with icing sugar. For extra flavor, you can mix a bit of cinnamon with the icing sugar before dusting.
