Ingredients:

  • 500g beef, sliced
  • 1 tsp baking soda (to tenderize the beef)
  • 50g ginger, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, sliced
  • 30-50 ml honey
  • ¾ tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 bell peppers, sliced
  • 2 purple onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ chili pepper, minced
  • Salt and spices for chicken (optional)
  • Additional 1 tbsp soy sauce and oyster sauce
  • ½ tsp cornstarch

 

Directions:

  1. Marinate the sliced beef with 1 tsp baking soda to tenderize it. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Rinse the beef to remove the baking soda.
  3. Mix ¾ tbsp cornstarch, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp oyster sauce, and 30-50 ml honey in a bowl. Add the beef to the marinade and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a wok or large frying pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the beef slices and sear on both sides for about 3 minutes each.
  6. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.
  7. In the same pan, add the minced garlic and chili pepper. Sauté for 2 minutes.
  8. Add the sliced bell peppers and chopped purple onions. Stir-fry for 5 minutes.
  9. Return the beef to the pan and mix well with the vegetables.
  10. Season with salt and spices for chicken (if using), and add 1 tbsp each of soy sauce and oyster sauce.
  11. Dissolve ½ tsp cornstarch in a little water and add it to the pan to thicken the sauce.
  12. Stir everything well and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
