Ingredients

Scale

Fries:

  • 4 large russet potatoes (for homemade fries) or a variety of pre-made frozen fries (curly fries, waffle fries, steak fries, shoestring fries)
  • Vegetable oil for frying (if making homemade fries)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Dipping Sauces:

  • Ketchup
  • Garlic aioli
  • Sriracha mayo
  • Ranch dressing
  • Honey mustard
  • BBQ sauce
  • Cheese sauce
  • Tzatziki
  • Spicy buffalo sauce
  • Pesto aioli

Extras for Garnish:

Instructions

  • Prepare the Fries:
    • For Homemade Fries: Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into your preferred shape (thin shoestring, thick wedges, or classic fries). Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry.
    • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potatoes in batches for about 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
    • For Frozen Fries: Cook according to the package instructions, either baking or frying them for extra crispness.
  • Set Up the Board:
    • Choose a large wooden or charcuterie board as the base.
    • Place small bowls or ramekins on the board for the dipping sauces.
    • Arrange the fries around the bowls, separating them by type for a visually appealing display. If you’re serving different kinds of fries (curly, waffle, shoestring), be sure to group them neatly on the board.
  • Add the Sauces:
    • Pour each dipping sauce into individual bowls and arrange them around the board. You can garnish the sauces with herbs or seasonings for an extra pop of flavor and color.
  • Garnish the Fries:
    • Sprinkle some of the fries with fresh parsley or chives, a dash of paprika or cayenne pepper, and shredded parmesan cheese for added flair.
  • Final Touches:
    • Include some extras like pickles, jalapeños, or olives for those who like a tangy contrast to their fries.
    • Place tongs or small serving spoons near the board for easy serving.
