Ingredients
– 12 lasagna noodles, cooked according to package instructions
– 2 cups diced cooked ham
– 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
– 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
– 4 cups béchamel sauce (see directions below)
– Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish (optional)
For the Béchamel Sauce:
– 4 tbsp unsalted butter
– 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
– 4 cups milk (warm)
– 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
– Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Prepare the béchamel sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, whisk in flour, and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually add warm milk, whisking constantly until thickened. Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
3. Spread a thin layer of béchamel sauce on the bottom of the baking dish. Layer 3 cooked lasagna noodles, followed by more béchamel sauce, diced ham, and shredded mozzarella. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up, finishing with béchamel and a mix of mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top.
5. Let rest for 10 minutes, garnish with fresh thyme or parsley, and serve.
