12 oz spaghetti2 tbsp olive oil
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 tsp red chili flakes (optional)
28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp dried oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley or basil for garnish


Instructions

  1. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water and drain the rest.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and chili flakes, sautéing for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Pour in crushed tomatoes, stir in sugar, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low heat for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Toss cooked spaghetti with the sauce, adding a splash of reserved pasta water if needed.
  5. Garnish with parsley or basil and serve hot.
