Cheesy Potato and Bacon Gratin: A Creamy, Indulgent Side Dish

Ingredients

– 6 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
– 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
– 1 cup heavy cream
– 1/2 cup milk
– 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
– 2 tablespoons butter
– 2 garlic cloves, minced
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Fresh chives for garnish


Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and butter a baking dish.
2. In a saucepan, heat butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant. Add cream, milk, salt, and pepper, stirring until well combined.
3. Layer half the potato slices in the baking dish, followed by half the cheese, bacon, and cream mixture. Repeat with the remaining layers.
4. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil, sprinkle extra cheese on top, and bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
5. Garnish with fresh chives and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
