Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 head of cabbage, chopped
  • Water (enough to cover the cabbage while cooking)
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • Oil, for frying
  • 3 eggs
  • Chives, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 teaspoons wheat flour

Instructions

  • Cook the Cabbage:

    • In a pot, add the chopped cabbage and enough water to cover it.
    • Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes until softened, then drain well.
  • Sauté the Onions:

    • In a pan, heat a little oil and sauté the chopped onions until translucent and slightly golden (about 2-3 minutes).
    • Transfer to a bowl and let cool.
  • Mix Ingredients:

    • In the bowl with onions, add the cooked cabbage, eggs, chives, salt, paprika, black pepper, and flour.
    • Mix well until a thick batter forms.
  • Fry the Patties:

    • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
    • Scoop portions of the cabbage mixture into the pan and flatten slightly to form patties.
    • Cook for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden and crispy.
  • Serve:

    • Remove patties from the pan and place on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
    • Serve warm with sour cream, yogurt, or your favorite dip.

Notes

  • Drain well: Ensure the cabbage is well-drained after cooking to avoid a watery batter.
  • Customization: Add cheese, spices, or herbs for extra flavor.
  • Vegan option: Replace eggs with flax eggs or chickpea flour.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
